Snow Pusher Sizes and Options

The Snow Bear snow pusher comes in 72” and 96” widths. 

The Snow Bear snow pusher comes with a choice of a reversible steel cutting edge for the hard stubborn snow build up or a poly cutting edge to protect concrete, asphalt and other surfaces.

The Snow Bear snow pusher comes with side wear skid shoes that are replaceable through Bear Iron Works.

A back drag blade attachment is also available for an additional purchase for those hard-to-reach areas needing snow removal such as up against buildings, against curbs, or in alley ways.

What colors are available for the snow bear snow pusher?

The snow bear snow pusher comes in our standard blue. This bright color allows it to be easier seen during night time snow removal operations. We also add reflective tape on the attachment itself so that it is safer for use at night time or during low visibility conditions. Is a steel or poly cutting edge better for snow plowing?

Plowing snow in the winter can surprisingly be a different experience depending on where you live at and your timing of plowing the snow. 

When to use a steel cutting edge for plowing snow

If you live in an area that sees wetter snow, that causes it to ice up on the base layer and stick to the ground, then a steel cutting edge would be a better option for your snow pusher. A steel cutting edge would also be to go to choice for someone who will plow snow after a freeze and thaw cycle, as it will cause the base layer to ice up as well. The steel cutting edge has a much easier time cutting through hard pack on the Bear Iron Works snow pusher and will be much more durable. A steel cutting edge however, has a higher chance of causing damage to the surface below or any protruding objects. 

Advantages of a steel cutting edge on a snow pusher:

• More Durable
• More Efficient

Disadvantages of a steel cutting edge on a snow pusher:

• Potential for surface damage
• Louder

When to use a poly cutting edge for plowing snow

If you are commonly plowing lots that may have hidden objects such as manhole covers, speed bumps, or other unknown objects, a poly cutting edge will be a better solution. While it cannot cut through the hard pack ice as easy as a steel cutting edge, it does a better job at protecting unknown elements under the snow. If you are using a poly cutting edge it is better to plow the snow while it is still fresh before it has a chance to turn into ice. If you are pushing snow on any type of decorative concrete or surface, it is best to use a poly cutting edge instead of a steel edge. 

Advantages of a poly cutting edge on a snow pusher:

• Safer for underlying surfaces
• Quieter
• Flexible enough to go over protruding objects

Disadvantages of a poly cutting edge on a snow pusher:

• Less effective for ice and hard pack
• Will need replaced more
